Join us for an evening of exquisite wines and culinary delights at our 4th Annual Champagne & Burgundy Wine Pairing Dinner. The heart and soul of Vintage ’59 Imports celebrates artisanal domains making excellent regional wine—classic vin de terroir. Champagne and Burgundy are at the center of their French portfolio and we are excited to welcome Debra Lewis to host all three nights of the dinner this fall.

Kerrie (& Xavier) de Boissieu 
Château de Lavernette Granite Blanc
de Noirs Brut 

Over 400 years after the Lavernette estate was founded, the current generation, Xavier, with his American wife Kerrie, took the plunge to further the château by converting to biodynamic farming.

This ‘Granite Brut’  is the creation of Xavier and Kerrie, who traveled to Champagne to meet with growers such as Egly-Ouriet, Agrapart, Larmandier Bernier and others for advice before starting this project. The grapes come from the estate Gamay vines growing on granite soils and the wine is made in the champenoise méthode. 

Perrine Fresne 
Champagne Perrine Fresne Sarmate I, Sermieres

Perrine Fresne (frein) made her first wine in Sermiers with the 2020 harvest. She is one of three récoltants-manipulants in Sermiers, a village dominated by a co-op, and the only woman among them.

Sarmate I represents Perrine's first effort to craft the finest wine of a vintage from her village. She achieves this by incorporating reserve wine to maintain a base level of consistency while showcasing the distinctive attributes of the 2020 vintage.

Nicole et Valérie Moncuit
Champagne Pierre Moncuit, Mesnil

Nicole Moncuit grew up in the 1960s and 70s wanting to follow her father in the vines at a time when women just didn’t do such things. Nicole’s daughter Valérie joined the domain to work with her mother. The wines of Mesnil are known above all for steely elegance and minerality, and those from chez Pierre Moncuit—which has some of the oldest vines along the entire Côte—superbly reflect these qualities.

Elite Wines imports and distributes a broad selection of artisanal wines from all over the world. The focus of this tasting will be France and Spain. 

Hugues has decades of experience in the wine industry. You won't want to miss the wealth of knowledge he has to offer us. 

Jason Haas is the owner of the famed Tablas Creek Winery in Paso Robles. His family teamed up with the Perrin family (Château de Beaucastel in Chateaunef-du-Pape) to found a terroir-driven winery in America three decades ago. Jason has been an amazing presence in the world of wine since his family bought the unique property in 1989. Dry-farmed on limestone soils, they produce some of the world’s best 'Rhone' style wines. We are very excited to have Jason lead us through a tasting of his current wines and discuss how their farming practices work hand-in-hand with the region to produce incredible, long-lived wines.

Maine Crisp
We have a new gluten free cracker on the shelves, and you're not going to want to miss this one! Using buckwheat as the base (which is a naturally gluten-free seed, rather than a grain), Maine Crisps have great texture and flavor with what we see as THE perfect crispy crunch. In addition to being a superfood, a complete protein, and low on the glycemic index, buckwheat is also a tremendously regenerative crop - naturally increasing soil nutrients, suppressing weeds, and acting as a pollinator food source. There are so many things to love about these crisps, and we haven't even mentioned the flavors! Try them with your favorite cheese, hummus, use them as a topping for kale salad, ice cream, or whatever suits your fancy! 

Cypress Grove
Since their first wheel of cheese made in 1983 and then the opening of their own dairy 2010, Cypress Grove has become renowned far and wide as one of America's finest cheese producers. Based in Arcata, California, their dairy has consistently earned 100% marks from humane societies throughout the nation, and between consistent sustainability efforts and what may be the happiest herd of goats, they truly are a model dairy. Cypress Grove's fresh goat cheese rounds marry tangy chevre with fresh and unexpected flavors. We have been newly obsessed with their limited batch of Hatch Chile goat cheese, which beautifully strikes the balance between mild spice and silky texture of flame-roasted hatch chiles. 

Nightingale
Fall may be right around the corner, but we aren't ready to say goodbye to summer yet! One of our favorite local products are Nightingale ice cream sandwiches - made from scratch in Richmond, VA! This week we have a restock of some of our favorite summer standbys, Key Lime Pie and Strawberry Shortcake, as well as Nightingale's newest flavor: Rainbow Cookie Dough! Not feeling as adventurous with your ice cream sammie? Don't worry, we are still stocking The Classic, a delicious combination of creamy vanilla bean ice cream sandwiched between chocolate brownie wafers. Tell us what your favorite flavor is!
