The Story Of Villa Canestrari Began In 1888 when Carlo Bonuzzi, the paterfamilias and owner of a large number of vineyards in the Illasi Valley, graduated from the Royal School of Winemaking at Conegliano Veneto, contributing to the evolution of an activity in which his family was already involved. It was he who began bottling and selling the wines that the family produced. Made in a much lighter style than previous years, this rosé is a blend of Corvina, Corvinone and Rondinella grapes.
La Piemontina Lacrime di Gioia Rosso 2023
Origin: Italy
Retail: $22.95| Sale: $20.66
The Colline Novaresi DOC Rosso “Lacrime di Gioia” is an intense and enveloping DOC wine, obtained from La Piemontina’s main grape varieties: Nebbiolo and Vespolina. “Lacrime di Gioia” translates to "Tears of Joy." Originally a huge disappointment caused by an error in minemaking (this is a young winery, afterall), the final result was something delicious and entirely new. After miscalculating the Nebbiolo production, Vespolina was added and a new label was created! This wine is now produced every year.
Azienda La Ciocca Colli Piacentini Barbera 2024
Origin: Italy
Retail: $17.95| Sale:$16.16
Since 2007, La Ciocca has been a shared family project and love story. Located in the Chero Valley between Val D'Arda and Val Nure, two of the four main valleys of the Colli Piacentini. Val Chero partly extends into the Stirone and Placenziano Regional Park. This protected area of over 300 hectares has been known for its exceptional wealth of marine fossils. Two different soils are present on these hillsides. On one side, there are gray clay sands containing fossils from coastal environments that date back more than two million years (the middle and upper Pliocene); on the other, we find yellow sands that originated in beach environments. This conformation forms the basis of the marked flavors of the wines and their aromatic complexity which is linked to the rich deposit of micronutrients found in the Placenziano rocks.
