Mader Pinot Blanc 2018

Origin: Alsace
Retail: $18.95 | Sale: $17.05

The Mader domaine is a very small family-owned and operated estate in the village of Hunawihr. After their son earned a degree in Oenology he returned to the family estate and converted all of their vineyards to bio-dynamic viticulture in 2005. For so long Pinot Blanc has been considered as an aperitif wine to start the meal, but a wine of this particular intensity and character is much more than a simple aperitif – it is remarkably complex with wonderful intensity and personality. Classic white flower and citrus aromas lead to a crisp and refreshing palate. It’s totally dry but reveals an unusual richness for a Pinot Blanc and the finish is refreshing, thanks to the acidity.

CVNE Cune Crianza 2016

Origin: Spain
Retail: $15.95 | Sale: $14.35

Founded in 1879 by the Real de Asúa brothers, CVNE has been an integral part of the Rioja. The nose is full of berries, spices and tobacco aromas that work in unison to give this Crianza a nice start. A firm palate of dark plum, raspberry, and spice flavors holds through on a grippy finish. For everyday Rioja, there isn't much better than this.
