Hendry Napa Valley Barrel Fermented Chardonnay 2018

Hendry Napa Valley Barrel Fermented Chardonnay 2018

Origin: Napa Valley California
Retail:
$39.95 | $35.96

The Hendry Vineyard is located on benchlands just west of the town of Napa. The Chardonnay vines grow on thin, stony soils between 200 and 300 feet above sea level. The vineyard is at the intersection of the cooler Carneros appellation and the greater Napa Valley, which becomes warmer as you travel northward. Morning fog and afternoon breezes from the San Pablo Bay moderate the climate, giving us long, warm summer days and cooler nights. The Barrel Fermented Chardonnay is sur lie and aged in French oak barrels for 11 months, without racking, undergoing frequent battonage, or stirring, in the barrels. Approximately one-third of the barrels are new each year. The Barrel Fermented Chardonnay does not undergo any malolactic fermentation, which is important for retaining its food-friendly acidity. Lemon yellow color. On the nose, sweet baked apple fruit, floral aromas, soft and dusty oak, and toasted marshmallow/burnt sugar. Medium-bodied. Young now, with nectarine and apple fruit, and passionfruit acid. Lemon zest in the finish.
100% Chardonnay

Mauro Molino Langhe Dolcetto 2018

Mauro Molino Langhe Dolcetto 2018

Origin: Conca dell’Annunziata, Italy
Retail:
$17.95 | $16.16

In 1973 Mauro graduated from enology school in Alba, and then followed that with five years of winemaking experience in Emilia Romagna. In 1979 after his father’s passing, he returned home to the family farm in La Morra and began consulting for local wineries while building up his own estate. 1982 was the first vintage from the famed family parcel in Conca dell’Annunziata. In 2003 Matteo joined the company and then in 2008, Matteo’s sister also joined the gang. Today they manage approximately 12 hectares of vineyards, 50% dedicated to Nebbiolo for Barolo, and the rest mostly Barbera, and Dolcetto from sustainably grown grapes. Pretty note of rose petals, plums, cherries and fresh herbs. On the palate, medium tannins and acid. Bright fruit, savory finish but plums predominate. A great wine on its own, and versatile with lighter dishes as well.
100% Dolcetto

Hendry HRW Cabernet Sauvignon 2018

Hendry HRW Cabernet Sauvignon 2018

Origin: Napa Valley, California
Retail: $26.95 | Sale: $24.26

Grapes for the HRW series wines come from our 117-acre Napa Valley vineyard, as they do for all of our wines. This wine is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. It was aged for 18 months in French Oak barrels, 10% of which were new. The remaining barrels are the 1 and 2- year-old barrels used in our estate Cabernet. Opaque, medium-ruby color, slight violet hue of a young wine-slightly lighter in body than their Hendry label Cabernet. Dark berries, smoke and grape skins on the nose. The palate offers tangy black currant, dark berries and cocoa. Medium-bodied with firm tannins. 100% Cabernet Sauvignon
