Origin: Oregon
Retail: $27.95| Sale:$25.16
Ksenija Kostic House is the co-owner and winemaker at Ovum (and assistant winemaker at Argyle). Ovum is committed to the exploration of Oregon’s wine growing regions by producing transparent wines of place. Working with lesser-known vineyards and varietals in a state dominated by Pinot Noir, House hopes to expand the reach of Oregon’s terroir. During her post-graduate work in genetics and immunology, she was having doubts about her academic path and struggling to find a way forward. She needed a break, so her husband suggested going to Oregon to work harvest. She fell in love with Oregon because it reminded her so much of Serbia where she grew up, but also with the world of wine. Big Salt is a co-fermentation of 10 vineyards located all across Oregon consisting of 46% Riesling, 28% Gewurztraminer, 18% Early Muscat, 6% Pinot Blanc, 1% Pinot Gris 1% “others.”

Origin: Italy
Retail: $25.95| Sale: $23.36
The Tunella winery is located in Ipplis di Premariacco in the Friuli Colli Orientali DOC region.
Founded in the 1960s, it is now run by the current owners, Gabriella and her sons Massimo and Marco Zorzettig, second and third generation, respectively. They are now the proud custodians of their family’s tradition, with over 50 years of history. The Friuli Colli Orientali DOC area stretches from the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region, along the Slovenian border in the east, to the southern mountains close to Corno di Rosazzo and Buttrio. Vineyards of Colli Orientali del Friuli enjoy increased altitude and are terraced on rolling hills, which is perfect for high-quality viticulture. Also, the area is surrounded by the Julian Pre-Alps that protect the vineyards from the cold winds of the north.
Barale Fratelli Dolcetto d'Alba "Le Rose" 2023
Origin: Italy
Retail: $36.95| Sale:$33.26
The Barale family has been making wine in the Langhe region since the 1870s. Previous winemaker Sergio Barale has now passed the baton to his daughters Eleonora and Gloria. Dedicated to making the best wines possible, the winery submitted 216 strains of native yeasts for molecular analysis in order to determine which best expressed the character of the terroir while ensuring consistent and healthy fermentations. They now work with the three best strains, and these strains are also preserved at the University of Turin’s “mycotheca.” This wine is 100% Dolcetto from Monforte d’Alba. Fermentation is done in stainless steel tanks, followed by brief aging in medium-sized oak barrels. Farming has been rigorously organic for at least a decade, with certification in 2016.
