G.D. Vajra

The Vajra family has farmed Bricco delle Viole, the highest cru in Comune di Barolo, since the 1880s. Aldo Vaira, determined to revive his family legacy, was one of the earliest to adopt organic farming in Piemonte in 1971. Now run by second generation winemakers Giuseppe, Isidoro, and Francesca Vaira, the estate is overseen by their parents, Aldo and Milena. The vineyards are certified organic.  They have been nurtured and soil preserved by grassing and spontaneous cover crop for over 50 years. Farming at Vajra is a labor of love and “recipe-free” attention. The family’s focus is on building something for the next generation, caring about the community, and cementing the stories of the region’s past.

Piemonte, Italy

$21.95 | Sale: $19.76

Rosabella is the limited rosé made from all of Piedmont’s best varieties and sourced from young vines near the Barolo winery. This ages in steel to retain all the purity, aromatics, and freshness of the fruit. This is a seasonal, limited production that shows a surprising capacity of evolution. The bouquet reveals notes of jasmine, rose petals, white raspberries, pink salt and high mountain flowers. The palate features the signature freshness of Nebbiolo, with an initial lush, salty texture and balanced acidity, an aerial balance and a superb drinkability. 90% Nebbiolo, 10% Dolcetto & Barbera
