Karamolegos ‘Feredini’ Assyrtiko 2022

Artemis Karamolegos Winery is a continuation of the Artemis’s family tradition that started almost a century ago with the cultivation of local produce, Assyrtiko in particular, in Santorini. The first canava (local name for cellar) was created by his grandfather in 1952 with the purpose of producing wine for home consumption. It was, however, Artemis’ innate love for the Santorini land and quest for preserving Santorini’s heritage, that was realized in 2003 with the creation of his first wine at the premises of his new winery in Exo Gonia. Today, Artemis Karamolegos Winery is known for its remarkable range of Assyrtiko wines, authentic to the volcanic soils of Santorini and expressed with simplicity, typicity, and capacity to age over time. Mokoroa Sauvignon Blanc 2022

Mokoroa is the second label of Puriri Hills, a New Zealand brand focusing on luxurious red blends inspired by Bordeaux. The winery is owned and run by Judith Fowler, an absolute heavyweight in New Zealand wine. She is a native of Lynchburg, VA, moved to New Zealand in her early 50’s, and has since become the Grande Dame of Kiwi artisan wine. Mokoroa Sauvignon Blanc comes from Awatere Valley, on a hilly and sustainable vineyard site Judith selected and then contracted herself. Convinced by her son to make a white wine, she created a balanced and delicious Sauvignon Blanc that over-delivers consistently . In 2019, she began adding 6% Viognier to the wine. This wine is now dominated by stone fruits; apricots, ripe peaches of all kinds, and white flowers, then the citrus layer, and something almost like the lovechild of a green melon and a lime, hits in the mid-palate. 94% Sauvignon Blanc, 6% Viognier

Dio Fili Xinomavro Rosé 2023

Dio Fili Estate (‘Diofili’ = ‘two friends’) is the collaborative project of John Polyzos and legendary Yannis Boutaris. Boutaris discovered the potential of this region, located in Northern Greece and Western Macedonia just off the Egnatia Odos,  after purchasing grapes for the Boutari Company. After a long period of time purchasing fruit from John and his wife Georgia, a business partnership formed. What makes this area so unique is its old Xinomavro wines that range from 70 to 115 years of age, as well as the high altitude (900 meters) where the vineyards are situated. Known traditionally as a hub of fur trade, the village of Siatista is now increasingly known for its Xinomavro vines. Deep pinkish in color, the nose explodes with rich ripe red berries, crisp stone fruit, and hints of white pepper. Floral and spicy on the palate with notes of ripe raspberries and wild strawberries, followed by a vibrant, mineral finish. 70% Xinomavro, 30% Mosxomavro

Mitravelas ‘Red on Black’ Red 2022

Nemea is not only one of Greece's most important wine regions, it is one of the oldest. In fact, Agiorgitiko wine from Nemea gets a shout out from Homer himself. That's how much history is behind the wine in this bottle. Founded in the early 1900s by two brothers, the Mitravelas winery is the oldest modern winery in Nemea and still run by the same family. Konstantinos Mitravelas leads the estate with his endless passion and love for Agiorgitiko. They bottle under two labels: Mitravalas Estate and the Red on Black. While some wines made with Agiorgitiko can age for decades, this wine is meant to be drunk young and slightly chilled. A generous fruit-forward Agiorgitiko that's bursting with red fruits and violets on the nose, with a supple, spicy palate.
