Cotarella Ferentano Bianco 2019

Origin: Italy
Retail:$
18.95| Sale: $17.06

Calling back to last week’s tasting, this wine is from the same region of Lazio, near Rome, and features a rare and indigenous grape: Roscetto. The name Ferentano derives from the archaeological site of Ferento: the ancient Etruscan town, located near the vineyards where the Roscetto grapes grow. The bond between the Cotarellas and the wine world originates in the Sixties, when Antonio and Domenico Cotarella, grape-growers in Monterubiaglio, built the first winery to produce their own wine. After many years of experimentation and study on the Roscetto vine variety, the production of Poggio dei Gelsi started in 1993. In 2016, Dominga, Marta and Enrica, the daughters of these two men, took over the winery and Famiglia Cotarella is now female owned and operated!

The Musketeer duck pays homage to the rich heritage of the region, and its spirit of camaraderie and conviviality. The wine is produced by Domaine de l’Herré using eight different grapes (the varietals and percentages change every year and are apparently not revealed).

T. Berkley Cabernet Franc 2023

T. Berkley Wines was founded out of a love for winemaking and the classic wines of the Loire Valley. After joining AmeriCorps and the National Park Service for a gig that took Taylor Berkley from Illinois, where he had grown up, to northern California to build trails over a summer, he found himself touring California wine country during the harvest. After tasting a 2007 Cabernet Franc, he was hooked. Starting with a viticultural apprenticeship in the rural hinterlands of Central Otago to working with big winemaking names in Northern California, Australia, and Austria; Berkeley eventually came back to his first passion- Cabernet Franc. He started his own vineyards in 2016 and is now celebrating a decade of success.
