Araciel makes an Argentinian Malbec and a California Albariño. Two wines from opposite ends of the globe, yet sharing a common thread. Araciel, meaning 'Altar in the Sky,' symbolizes what both separates and unites these vineyards. Focused on hillside locations in the San Rafael Mountains of the Santa Maria Valley, California, and the eastern foothills of the Andes Range in Mendoza, Argentina, these two regions offer the ideal conditions for Albariño and Malbec. This Albariño is grown at the H. Verlassenschaft Vineyard, on the slopes of the eastern edge of the Santa Maria Valley AVA. With the coastal influence of the Pacific, abundant sunshine, and gravelly loam soils, this is an ideal location for this variety. Unlike many other producers, we age this Albariño in French oak, 40% new and the remainder seasoned.

With its gentle Mediterranean climate and deep winemaking heritage, the Barossa Valley continues to be one of the world’s most exciting wine regions. Established in 1994, the Torbreck winery takes inspiration from France’s Rhône Valley while championing the rich viticultural heritage of the Barossa. Spread across a 20 km-long north–south ridge on the western edge of the Barossa Valley, their collection of five vineyard estates form an enviable portfolio of exceptional vineyard sites, many classified as Old Vines (older than 35 years) and some dating back well over 175 years. Semillon has always found a natural home in the Barossa. It was one of the early white wine grape varieties planted by the first settlers around 160 years ago and the Mediterranean climate and careful farming has created a heritage of old, low yielding Semillon vineyards.

Winemaker Derek Rohlffs grew up exploring California’s redwood forests, the Sierra Nevada, and surfing the Pacific Ocean. His passion for the outdoors led him to pursue a degree in environmental studies at UC Santa Barbara and later winemaking at UC Davis before embarking on a career that allowed him to continue to explore the natural world. He also continues to protect the environment in his CCOF-certified vineyards. They use practices like regenerative dry-farming and sheep grazing to ensure that the vineyards and the greater ecosystem flourish. This natural approach continues at their CSW-certified winery where they intentionally use sustainable, environmentally-responsible practices.

A fifth-generation Napa Valley winemaker, Joseph Wagner has been immersed in every aspect of the wine industry his entire life. Learning the ropes from his father Chuck, who co-founded Caymus Vineyards with his parents in 1972, Joseph garnered a love for cultivating the land, tending grapevines, the art of winemaking, the strengths of a good work ethic and leading by example. Since the family is both French and American, Wagner has created a “French” blend of Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvedre and this “USA” blend of Zinfandel, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Petit Sirah.
