So Far Out Bright White

Origin: California

26.95| Sale: $24.26

So Far Out is the experimental, easy-drinking sister project to Field Recordings, the Paso Robles label founded in 2007 by Andrew Jones. Where Field Recordings roams across California's odd corners and forgotten varieties, So Far Out narrows the focus to affordable, sustainable, everyday bottles built from organically farmed Central Coast fruit. So Far Out grew out of that world as a joint venture between Field Recordings, organic Central Coast grower Mike Testa, and longtime Los Angeles wine-industry veteran Jamil Williams. This tradition-bucking blend is 40% Grenache Blanc, 40% Viognier and 20% Sauvignon Blanc.

Raphael Saint-Cyr is the fourth generation vigneron at the Domaine Saint-Cyr, which was created by his great-grandfather, Pierre Saint-Cyr. The estate is located in Anse, found at the southern edge of the Beaujolais. When Raphael took over the winemaking in 2008, he let go of a large portion of Beaujolais vines around the winery and acquired vines further north in the crus of Morgon, Regnié, Chénas, and Moulin-à-Vent. Having seen his grandfather and uncle get sick from the chemicals used to treat their vines, Raphael was immediately convinced to convert the entire 23 hectare domaine to certified organic viticulture, making Domaine Saint Cyr one of the largest organic domaines in the Beaujolais. The cuvée La Galoche is named after a small stream that runs by the property and represents the largest production from the domaine.

Founded in 1990 by Jean-François and Cathy Izarn, Borie la Vitarèle is 18 hectares of vines in the AOC Saint-Chinian (Languedoc) managed organically and biodynamically since 1998. Since the accidental death of Jean-François in April 2014, Cathy and her daughter Camille have managed the estate jointly, with Camille managing the vinification. They own 58 hectares (143 acres) of land and only 18 hectares of those are planted with vines. The other 40 ha is oak and chestnut forests, moors and aromatic scrublands with wild herbs of the garrigue, which surround the vineyards. This, in addition to the elevation of their vineyards up in the mountains, contributes to the delicious flavors of their wines. This red is a lovely blend of Grenache and Cinsault!
