Saint Cosme Little James Basket Press Blanc 2017

Origin: France
Retail: $16.95 | Sale $14.35

Château de Saint Cosme is the leading estate of Gigondas and produces the benchmark wines of this appellation. The property has been in the hands of the Barruol family since 1570. This unconventional blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Viognier can be used at the table like a crisp Pinot Grigio or a zippy Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc. The Sauvignon Blanc brings acidity to the blend while Viognier provides fleshiness and attractive notes of stone fruit and flowers. Blending the two varieties results in an aromatic and fresh-tasting wine with aromas and flavors of peach blossoms, fennel, apricots, grapefruit, lychee fruit, and mangos. Try this wine with garden salads, ceviche, and grilled fish.

50% Viognier, 50% Sauvignon Blanc

Hendry Napa Valley Barrel Fermented Chardonnay 2016

Origin: California

The Hendry Vineyard is located on benchlands just west of the town of Napa. The Chardonnay vines grow on thin, stony soils between 200 and 300 feet above sea level. Morning fog and afternoon breezes from the San Pablo Bay moderate the climate, giving long, warm summer days and cooler nights. This barrel-fermented Chardonnay is whole-cluster pressed and aged in French oak barrels for 11 months. It’s a beautiful golden yellow color in the glass with golden apple and spice aromas. The palate is soft, medium-weight, with layers of tangy fruit, spicy oak, and apple peel on the finish. An ideal pairing with salmon, Manchego cheese, or white pizzas. This wine’s food pairing versatility and acidic brightness make friends for it on both sides of the Chardonnay divide.
