Hendry Napa Valley Barrel Fermented Chardonnay 2016

Origin: California
Retail: $39.95 | Sale: $35.95

The Hendry Vineyard is located on benchlands just west of the town of Napa. The Chardonnay vines grow on thin, stony soils between 200 and 300 feet above sea level. Morning fog and afternoon breezes from the San Pablo Bay moderate the climate, giving long, warm summer days and cooler nights. This barrel-fermented Chardonnay is whole-cluster pressed and aged in French oak barrels for 11 months. It’s a beautiful golden yellow color in the glass with golden apple and spice aromas. The palate is soft, medium-weight, with layers of tangy fruit, spicy oak, and apple peel on the finish. An ideal pairing with salmon, Manchego cheese, or white pizzas. This wine’s food pairing versatility and acidic brightness make friends for it on both sides of the Chardonnay divide.

This incredible estate is also an important member of the Bernkasteler Ring Riesling Wine Auction Society. Delicate whiffs of crisp white peach, petrol, and honeycomb lift from this pristinely peachy semi-dry Riesling. The palate is balanced between the fleshiness of ripe peaches and the pleasant, nutty bitterness of their skins. The mineral notes cut through with acidity.
