Poggio Costa Prosecco NV

Origin: Prosecco, Italy
Retail: $14.95 | Sale: $13.46

Poggio Costa "the Hill by the Sea" is in reference to the hillside range running along the border of Slovenia on one side and the Gulf of Trieste on the other. This area is where the origin city of Prosecco is located, and around the hills are the primary source for our fruit.  Most people associate Prosecco to the Veneto due to Valdobiadenne, but actually it was Friuli where Glera was first planted. Of Slovenian origin, Glera was first brought to the village of Prosecco in the district of Trieste, just over the Slovenian border and on the coast of Northeast Italy. Fast forward to 2009 when the Italians decided to identify Prosecco as a D.O., the name of the Prosecco grape had to be changed. So Glera, a Friulian synonym for the Prosecco grape, was chosen as the new name because Glera was actually a name used in Friuli to refer to several distinct and indigenous varieties such as Prosecco Lungo.

Raventos I Blanc ‘1497’ Blanc de Blancs’ 2018

Origin: Conca de Riu Anoia, Spain
Retail: $21.95 | Sale: $17.96

"The Champagne producers claim that there is no terroir in the world that is better or as good as Champagne for making sparkling wine. This is quite implausible because it would be too much of a coincidence if Dom Perignon's chance invention just happened to take place precisely in the location with the best conditions for sparkling wine"
Written in 1928 the III Volum dels Viatges d’estudi–Manuel Raventós Domènech

The dream is for the Raventós i Blanc wines to have their own name: Conca del Riu Anoia, the name of a small geographical area, centred around the River Anoia Basin, between the Catalan Pre-Coastal and Coastal Ranges. They work the Raventós i Blanc estate using 100% biodynamic methodsutilizing only native varieties; varieties adapted to the area for over 2,000 years.  All of their sparkling wines are always vintage, and they are aged for at least 18 months on the lees.  Since the very outset, the greatest proximity between man and nature has been the essence of Raventós i Blanc; thereby restoring the Catalan peasant tradition of a farmhouse located on an estate.

Blanc de Blancs is a sparkling wine marked by the typicity of its place of origin, the Vinya del Llac, a vineyard over 40 years’ old, which allows us to obtain a structured, fresh and complex sparkling wine. The influence of the lake in this symbolic vineyard moderates the climatic conditions, avoids heatwaves and favours long ripening.

Ultraviolet Pinot Noir Rosé NV

Origin: Mendocino, California
Retail: $19.95 | Sale: $17.95

Ultraviolet is a Cabernet Sauvignon and sparkling rosé made by Samantha Sheehan in Napa, California.  Samantha has created and grown two other brands, POE Wines and Mommenpop Spirits.  Just recently she added a sparkling rosé to the lineup. Both wines are made in an artisanal manner, without any additives other than a judicious amount of sulfur.  Ultraviolet Wines are an homage to the California climate where winemaker Samantha Sheehan grew up - it is a pure expression of fruit ripened under the California sun. Her rosé is refreshing, zesty and highly sippable, made only with organically farmed grapes and a small amount of sulfur. This wine is 100% Pinot Noir from the Manchester Ridge vineyard on Mendocino Ridge. Manchester Ridge sits at a 2,000 foot elevation above Anderson Valley, 400 feet above the fog line. These grapes have a longer hang time, allowing them to develop complex flavors and nuances. The cool, steady temperatures also allow the grapes to maintain acidity.
