Adernats Cava Rosado NV
Origin: Spain
Retail:$22.95| Sale: $20.66
In the beginning of 1900, and after hundreds of years of family wine elaboration and plantations, the citizens of Nulles decided to unify their resources and knowledge to create Sant Isidre’s trade union and to build the cellar of the village, Nulles’ Wine Cathedral. This union materialized in 1917, with the 1920 harvest being the first one to fill the modern cellar’s new tanks. Nulles is characterized by a warm and temperate Mediterranean climate. Being located 12 km from the sea implies an excellent maturation due to a great amount of hours of exposure to the sun along with a refreshing sharpness deriving from the sea breeze. This varietal is 100% Trepat, a red grape native to northeastern Spain. This sparkler is not only fun to sip on during Christmas festivities, but it carries over to the dinner table!
Maison Le Bihan Sancerre 2024
Origin: France
Retail: $39.95| Sale: $35.96
Maison Le Bihan is located in the Loire Valley in a small village called Angé (not to be confused with Angers). The estate was founded in 1786 by The Morcellet family originating from the Touraine area. At that time they farmed 4 hectares of vines, grew cereals, and goats. Jean Le Bihan arrived in the Loire Valley from the Great West where his father was from to work at the Château des Arpentis in Amboise in 1946. A few years later, in 1951, Jean married Micheline Morcellet, then moved to the estate of his in-laws and created Domaine Le Bihan. In 1993, Laurent Le Bihan - the youngest son of the family - took over the family business. The estate expanded and now covers 20 hectares as well as a wine tourism activity that is run by Laurent's son Romain who represents the 4th generation of the family. Everyone loves Sancerre (it’s the wine of the year in terms of newfound popularity) and its minerality lends itself beautifully to food.
Lightwell Survey Hintermen 2022
Origin: Virginia
Retail: $39.99| Sale: $35.99
Lightwell Survey is a Virginia winery shining a new light on the traditional wine-scape. Their small batches of lively reds, dense whites and unique combinations of the two come with no preconceived descriptions or traditional aspirations. Read: these wines are unique! Started in the fall of 2015 with their first harvest in partnership with Early Mountain Vineyards in Madison, VA, their wines will continue to delve into traditional and not-so-familiar territory as they bring their wines to market. The blend varies from year to year, depending on the harvest season and availability. This vintage is a blend of 62% Petit Manseng and 38% Riesling sourced from Sherman Ridge (Petit Manseng), Verona Farm (Riesling), and Oxeye (Riesling). I genuinely love the richness and acidity in this wine- I’m always so impressed by Virginia’s continued improvement and ingenuity.
Wonderment Wines Pritchett Peaks Rockpile Zinfandel 2015
Origin: California
Retail: $46.95| Sale: $42.26
We love a female winemaker at Locke Store and Stephanie Cook is doing an amazing job with Zinfandel. Born and raised in Leesville, South Carolina, Stephanie began traveling the world as a fashion model. After losing her Dad unexpectedly, the man who made homemade Muscadine wine in the laundry room, it motivated her to make her dream of becoming a winemaker become a reality. The Rockpile AVA established in 2002 is a truly spectacular and rugged Sonoma County appellation of steep mountain slopes falling off into the blue waters of Lake Sonoma. This is a place of ultra-premium hillside fruit where high elevation, full days of sun with moderate temperatures, coastal breezes and well-drained rocky soils create a constant state of tension. The resulting clusters of small berries produce an intensity of fruit and flavors like nowhere else in the world. I specifically picked this wine to pair with brisket for Hanukkah, but I feel that it would be beautiful on the Christmas table as well.
