Bosinakis winery is run by the young Sotiris and Katerina Bosinakis. This boutique winery is what one might consider “up and coming” due to its fabulous production of Moschofilero and its recent entry into the wine production industry. The winery has been producing wine since 1992, but just entered the bottled wine industry only a few years ago. Bosinakis winery is located in the area of Mantinia, Greece, home to the Moschofilero grape. The vines are cultivated in low yields of 800-1100 kg per row of vineyard, in order to ensure that proper quality of grape is achieved. This grape grows best in the area it originated in, which is in the plateau of Mantinia. The vineyards sit at 2000ft of elevation, or higher in sandy soils. The grapes thrive in the microclimate of Mantinia, usually undergoing harvest in September. In some cases these grapes can sometimes remain on the vines well into the month of October. The winemaker at Bosinakis Winery, Sotiris, allows nature and the grape to guide him in producing a unique wine that differentiates itself from other Moschofileros. Today it has become one of the most popular Moschofileros in Athens, GR, being poured in all the finest restaurants.

Trimbach Dry Riesling 2022

Origin: France
Retail: $
27.98| Sale:$25.19

Maison Trimbach's viticultural origins date back to 1626, and since then, twelve generations of rigorous winemakers and Ambassadors devoted to the passion for Alsace wines have constantly distinguished themselves by the quality and authenticity of their wines, to patiently develop, from father to son, a solid reputation. The 13th generation joined the estate a few years ago. The climate is semi-continental: cold winters, hot and dry summers, sometimes stormy, and beautiful and dry autumns. The sunshine is optimal and the rainfall is very low because it is protected from oceanic influences by the Vosges mountains. The vines planted on the sub-Vosges hills, on the slopes, have an essential impact on the quality of the grapes: drainage, less fertile soils, better exposure to the sun and ideal orientations. All of their vineyards and the grapes they select from their 35 winegrowers are officially certified organic since 2023.

Sono Montenidoli Chianti Colli Senesi 2022

Origin: Italy
Retail: $
24.95| Sale: $22.46

Montenidoli: 200 ha/500 ac of woods on the hill overlooking San Gimignano, in front of the Chianti Classico, between Florence and Siena. When the vineyard was first started in 1965, the land was abandoned. The woods had invaded the fields, the olive trees were running wild, and the vines were covered by the bushes. They began to breed rabbits as their manure was very good for fertilizing the soil and bought worms that were spread in the fields to make humus and soften the earth. The property is still surrounded by ancient oak-trees, evergreen ilex, and flowering ashes that bloom in spring. The olive trees are cared for and used to make olive oil. Olive trees have always been growing wild in this land but the Etruscans were the first to cultivate and prune them around 3,000 years ago. There are mainly two varieties at Montenidoli: Moraiolo, with black, small round berries, and Correggiolo, with green, slightly bigger, oval berries. In the upper part of the hill, between 400-600 meters / 450-650 yards above sea level, we find the cavernous rock of the Triassic period. The water penetrates for 200 meters / 220 yards into the holes and makes a basin. The land floats on a large salt-water sea. The soil is red and very rich in different minerals that are ideal for making Sangiovese.

Swerwer Shiraz 2023

Origin: South Africa

25.95| Sale:$23.36

“Swerwer” is a name which describes the lives of many young winemakers chasing the vintages across the globe. Established in 2012 by winemaker Jasper Wickens, the Swerwer wines reflect the true character of the Paardeberg in Swartland, South Africa. Waterval is one of the oldest farms in the Pardeberg, with an ancient old thatched roof farmhouse dating back to the late 18th Century. Waterval has been in the Schreiber family since 1947. Father and son team, Cyril and Barry built up the farm and vineyards for most of their lives. Soon after graduating from Elsenburg, third generation Franziska (Jasper’s now wife) joined her father Barry. Gradually she began to take the ‘reins’ into her own hands, combining old school knowledge and experience from the older generation with a fresh outlook and modern techniques. The old original vineyards that consisted mostly of Semillon, Palomino, False Pedro and Clairette Blanche were gradually re-planted over the decades. Today Chenin Blanc and Semillon dominate, with Shiraz (Syrah) and Touriga Nacional being their dominant reds.
