Rocche Costamagna Langhe Arneis 2021

Origin:
Piemonte, Italy
Retail:
$16.95 | Sale: $15.26

On the 15th of May, 1841, the office of the Royal Military Command of the Province of Alba granted to Luigi Costamagna, the son of founder Francesco Antonio Costamagna, an official license “to retail the wines produced from his own vineyards in La Morra”. It is the first document that testifies the winemaking activity of the company. It’s an important act, because it's an assessment of the quality of the wines produced in La Morra in those years and it granted Costamagna a certificate of excellence. The 1980’s mark the entrance of the present owner, Alessandro Locatelli, into the winery. What followed was a period dedicated to the amelioration of winery practices and vineyard management. Those were years of experiments and innovations, but, above all, of growing our experience in finding and settling the techniques that could emphasize the already incredible characteristics of La Morra terroir and the distinctive personality of Rocche dell’Annunziata.  Straw yellow color with greenish reflections.  Fresh and fruity bouquet, with notes of tropical fruits, white flowers and honey. Fresh and mineral on the palate with hints of chamomile. 100% Arneis

Lis Neris Pinot Grigio 2018

Origin:
Friuli, Italy
Retail:
$44.95 | Sale: $40.46

Founded in 1879, Lis Neris is a four generation family estate located in the center of Friuli, in the charming village of San Lorenzo, south west of Gorizia. The 74 ha of vineyards are planted between the Slovenian border to the North and the right bank of the Isonzo river to the South. Being close to the sea, the climate is typically Mediterranean, and the bora – a prevailing wind coming from the Adriatic Sea – has a cooling effect. A wide diurnal range encourages slow ripening and results in concentrated grapes with balanced acidity. The soil, formed by calcareous gravel dragged down by the melting of the Eastern Alps glaciers, stores the warmth during the day and releases it at night time, also helping the grapes to ripen. The wines are produced from the domaine’s estate vineyards, and vineyards in Slovenia they closely manage. A lively, richly-layered wine which is bursting with fresh citrus and tropical fruit on the nose.  On the palate there is a mouthwatering acidity tempered by a well-rounded, creamy texture, medium body and light vanilla and toasted hints from the maturation. This may be the most expensive  and most delicious pinot grigio you ever try! 100% Pinot Grigio

Il Borro Borrigiano 2020

Origin:
Tuscany, Italy
Retail:
$19.95 | Sale: $17.96

The Il Borro estate is located about 45 minutes south of Florence within the Valdarno Valley of Tuscany (Valdarno di Sopra D.O.C). The Valdarno di Sopra D.O.C. designation was one of the original four wine appellations within Tuscany recognized by Cosimo de' Medici III, the Grand Duke of Tuscany. In 1716, he issued an edict legislating the first official designations within Tuscany: Valdarno di Sopra; Chianti Classico; Carmignano and Pomino. Today, Valdarno di Sopra D.O.C. is working toward becoming the very first Italian wine denomination requiring organic production. At Il Borro, the conversion to organic farming began with the 2015 vintage and all the wines produced on the Il Borro estate are now exclusively made with certified organically grown grapes.  A lively and versatile red. Ruby red with purple reflections. Intense aromas, with notes of fresh red fruit reminiscent of cherries and spicy hints typical of white pepper. The wine has a pleasant acidity and smooth tannins, which leave the mouth fresh and clean. 50% Merlot 35% Cabernet Sauvignon 15% Syrah
