La Cappuccina Soave 2021

Origin:
Veneto, Italy
Retail:
$13.95 | Sale: $12.56

Since 1890, the Tessari family has been making wine at their La Cappuccina estate in Costalunga di Monteforte d’Alpone. The property takes its name from a restored 17th century chapel that was annexed to Villa Buri-Tessari where Capuchin friars once worshiped. The chapel is the property’s most striking architectural feature and is now the company’s logo. On 105 acres of vineyards, the vines grow lush and slowly  mature amongst black lavic basalt rocks. The wine is produced from Garganega grapes, harvested at the end of September, and carefully selected to ensure that only ripe and healthy berries are used. They are destemmed, macerated briefly on the skins and pressed softly. The wine matures on its lees for about six months in stainless steel tanks, followed by assemblage and bottling. Dry, well-structured and delicately fruity, with the typical almondy note on the finish. 100% Garganega

Luigi met his wife Elisabetta during one of his sojourns back to Calabria and they married and had three children— Leonardo, Francesca and Natalino. The pair eventually returned to Italy and built their family home, as well as the Agri-hotel Elisabetta, inspired by Luigi’s love for hospitality and his desire to combine the delicious Tuscan cuisine with his own farm produce and the fruit of the sea. The estate is a full fledged family affair with a working farm, cantina and vineyard with a beautiful modern frantoio. After the maturation of the vines under the Maremma sun,, different grapes come together to create a type of wine, ideal for the aging of 12 months in French durmast barriques. Brunetti is a wine of an intense color with elevated structure and body. During the aging, the wine develops particular organoleptic characteristics like an intense bouquet with cherry and plum scents as well as a light nuance of liquorice.
