Martínsancho Rueda Verdejo 2016

Origin: Spain
Retail: $21.95 | Sale: $19.75

In the early 1970’s, Angel Rodríguez saved the shy-bearing, thick-skinned Verdejo through refusing to uproot his 17th-century vineyard, Martínsancho. King Juan Carlos officially honored him for his untiring efforts in favor of reestablishing Verdejo’s prominence in its region of origin. From free-run juice, the wine is racked into large, centuries-old subterranean oak vessels prior to clarification and bottling. A highly extractive, herbaceous and minerally-complex Verdejo with excellent aging capacity and a perennial hallmark wine for the region.

Vigneto Saetti 'RossoViola' Lambrusco 2018

Origin: Italy
Retail: $21.95 | Sale: $19.75

Luciano Saetti produces this lively Lambrusco, vinified completely without additives. It has a deep ruby color with a nose redolent of brambly red berries, dried violets, delicate hints of sweet spices, and a slight meaty tone. The wine is more frothy than it is fully sparkling, with a velvety texture cut by bright acidity with a slight tannic bite. On its own, it shows more overtly floral and quite juicy but, as a good Lambrusco should, it shines with food. Try it with charcuterie, pasta bolognese, pizza, or as a match to any rich dish.
