La Cappuccina Soave 2021

Origin: Soave, Italy
Retail:
$13.95 | Sale: $12.56

Since 1890, the Tessari family has been making wine at their La Cappuccina estate in Costalunga di Monteforte d’Alpone. The property takes its name from a restored 17th century chapel that was annexed to Villa Buri-Tessari where Capuchin friars once worshiped. The Chapel is the property’s most striking architectural feature and is now the company’s logo. On the ninety-four acres of vineyards the vines grow lush amongst black lavic basalt rocks on one hundred and five acres of vineyards and the fine wines slowly mature. The wine is produced from Garganega grapes, harvested at the end of September and carefully selected to ensure that only ripe and healthy berries are used. They are destemmed, macerated briefly on the skins and pressed softly. The wine matures on its lees for about six months in stainless steel tanks, followed by assemblage and bottling. Dry, well-structured and delicately fruity, with the typical almondy note on the finish. 100% Garganega

Borgo San Daniele is a tiny jewel of a winery tucked into the heart of Friuli region. The sister and brother team Alessandra and Mauro work with small parcels of vineyards to extract the most unique and perfect fruit for their award-winning wines. Green harvesting and crop thinning, long fermentation on the lees, malolactic and unfiltered bottling have been the key words, together with dedicated manual harvesting aimed at picking each variety at the moment of perfect ripeness, to preserve that touch of crunchy freshness which is the hallmark of their wines. Alessandra and Mauro do not use chemical preparations in their vineyard and they utilize infusions of horsetail and dandelion, which give excellent results if applied at the right moment in the vegetative cycle. Young wines are dominated by ripe fruit aromas, in particular pear. With bottle aging, notes of straw and toasted almonds develop. Full and balanced, with attractive fruit and elegant length in the finish.100% Pinot Grigio.
