Cazas Novas Vinho Verde 2022

Origin:  Portugal
Retail
$16.95 | Sale: $15.26

Just when you thought you knew Vinho Verde, we introduce you to the rarest grape in the DOC: Avesso. Cazas Novas was first bottled in 2008, but the estate has family roots going back seven generations. In Santa Marinha do Zêzere, Baião, the southeast corner of Vinho Verde that overlooks the Douro Valley, the Cunha Coutinho family fell in love with the grape whose name suggests an aversion towards something.  Avesso is loyal only to its native terroir and therefore created its own exclusivity.  Bright citrus-straw in color with expressive white fruit and floral aromatics. Delivers a proper balance of freshness, minerality and acidity. The medium body is supported by fruit and a crisp and energetic finish. 100% Avesso

Lagar de Costa   Albariño 2023

Origin
: Spain
Retail:
Retail $21.95 | Sale $19.76

Lagar de Costa is a family-run estate, where three generations have focused on the care of Albariño, with many of their vines being more than 50 years old; the winery itself was built over a century ago along the Atlantic coast. With the vines trained on trellises, the coastal winds blow through easily, drying the grapes and leaving a subtle saline fingerprint. The Costa family has direct control over all the processes, in both the vineyards and the winery, aiming to highlight the unique characteristics of the Albariño varietal and maritime influence.  Light lemon in color with strong aromas of peach, mango, mint, anise and white flowers. On the palate, this Albariño is racy and concentrated with an excellent balance of round, textured mouthfeel and vibrant acidity, which allows the pristine fruit and herbal flavors to mix with a strong mineral core and flow into an energetic, enticing finish. A perfect wine to enjoy with grilled seafood. 100% Albariño

Finca Millara Lagariza 2022

Origin: Spain
Retail
$24.95 | Sale $22.46

Finca Míllara was built on the vision of Fernando de Santiago, an undertaking he kicked off nearly 20 years ago. To amass enough workable vineyard acreage, Fernando reached out to hundreds of small property owners, many with sites that had been long abandoned of farming; he has spent years rehabbing and replanting vines and rebuilding their original stone terraces. The vineyards are maintained now as they were; worked by hand on the impossibly steep slopes above the Miño River without the use of herbicides.  Lagariza offers exuberant red fruit and spice with balsamic and floral background notes. Tannins are soft and sweet despite its youth. Pairs naturally with steak au poivre, charcuterie, or spicy sausages.  100% Mencía

Herdade Grande Sousão 2020

Origin: Portugal
Retail:
$29.95 | Sale: $26.96

Since 1920 the Lança family has been making wine in Vidiguera, the prime region within the DOC of Alentejo. It is now the third and fourth generations who are running the estate and continuing on the ancestral 'Talha' method of winemaking and
aging, in clay pots as the Romans did long, long ago. Indigenous varietals, Mediterranean climate, predominantly schist soils, and sustainable viticulture are keys to the Lança family's elegant wines and continued longevity. Deep ruby in color. Offers intense aromas of fruit and florals. Very rich and complex on the palate with persistent fruit accompanied by toast from the barrel aging. Long and generous finish.  100% Sousão
